Sharon Lawlor received her first Bible at age ten. A mother of four and a former marketing director, she began an in-depth study of God’s Word through Bible Study Fellowship. At age 58, after completing her B.S. and an M.A. in Counseling, Sharon was accepted into the M.A. program in Bible Exposition at Biola University, Talbot School of Theology, primarily to study Hebrew and Greek. Her first research paper was on the meaning of Simeon’s prophecy to Mary in Luke 2:35. She went on to study Catholic theology with Dr. Robert Saucy, her advisor for her Th.M. thesis on the biblical validity of the common veneration of Mary by Catholics. Dr. Saucy strongly encouraged her to write this book. Why Mary? From a Mother’s Heart, a Fresh Perspective is dedicated to his memory.
TALK TO ME!
The story begins with a dramatization of the life of St. Pulcheria, a powerful 5th century empress. It tells how her passion for the Virgin Mary drew the scattered beliefs of many people into a seed of Marian devotion. Part two traces the growth of that seed from Pulcheria’s passion through hymns of devotion, the Rosary, and the appearance of the visions of Mary, to the teaching of the Catholic Church today. Part three is a loving, biblical response to the four key dogmas and the visions. It culminates in a call to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through the process we see the loving perspective of a mother’s heart, a reflection of God’s love.

This very well researched book answered the question I've always had about the Catholic church; why are there so many statues when the Lord clearly states that idol worship is forbidden? Very interesting read!
I loved the book 'Why Mary'

I just finished the book Why Mary? It was absolutely fantastic!!
Sharon has a God given gift to describe and to explain the history of Mary and the Gospel message of Jesus, the Son of God. Mary was God's vessel to give birth to Jesus and to raise Him with her husband Joseph, no more and no less.
Sharon researched and wrote a very important book. ‘Why Mary?’ should be read by every Christian (Catholic and Protestant)!!
I enjoyed Sharon's writing style. She supported her points with scripture (God's Word) and logic.
The book 'Why Mary' was wonderfully organized and logical!!
Lastly, the first part of the book about Pulcheria and her family was so interesting and would make a marvelous movie! To Mark Bennett and Roma Downey are you looking for a new project. This book would be a great movie!!
Makes a great gift!

Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ Matthew 7:22-23
